Travelling Tips for Bali

Feel Free to dive into our tips and knowledge of Bali, which you might find useful when you are exploring with us on your Bali tour.

Haggling/Bartering/Tipping

Her in Bali Indonesia it is not a custom to tip any service, like other countries around the world. Depending on the place you go to for food and drink they already add service charge. If wish tip, that is up to you and whatever you give they would be much appreciated.

Respecting local culture

At Duo Travel we expect anyone on our tours are to respect the culture of Bali even if it’s so different to wear you are from. We complete understand that some people have never been to Bali, this is why we have our Temple Day so you can learn and ask local guide on the culture and traditions on Bali.

Staying healthy: Water, ice and mosquitoes

We recommend that you stay hydrated as it does get pretty hot here and humid. Always make sure you have water with you wherever you go and have the odd hydra light to help you keep hydrated. As Bali is part of the third world, plesa do not drink the tap water here as it is not filtered. Only drink from water refill station or bottled water but try to fill at water station to reduce the use of plastic. Some people think Ice is not okay, but you are wrong. Ice is okay to have in your drinks as the bars, hotels and restaurant get it delivered

Safety tips: common-sense tips, scams, using reputable services

When you see Bali for the first time, the traffic is very busy and chaotic. It’s very important that you are crossing roads safely and being very aware of the motorbikes and holding your phone while walking. Alot of time if you are exploring you will be required to walk on the road as there is not always a path.

Always be mindfully that the Balinese see you as very rich and will try to get as much money out of you. This is wear haggling on the price is good to have in the back of your mind when buying things at local shops and taxis. When you go to restaurants, bars and hotels they are a fixed Price.

If you eager to try the streert food, always take care and use your common sense. Our best tip to you on this matter is if the locals are eating and they are constantly busy you are genially safe but remember that your belly’s may not be use to the certain ingredients they are using as food culture is very different. I would always recommend trying the local food as it is truly the best and traditional food but always be cautious.

SIM cards and currency

Using a local sim is a good idea as it gives easy access to contact us if you have any issues during your tour and to find wear you are going with google maps. When you land you can get a sim at the airport, but it is cheaper getting it from phone shops.

The currency is IRD and can be over whelming as, when you come to Bali you are automatically a multimillionaire. before you come just get yourself familiar with what your currency is if you look below, he is example of some currency to IRD. When you here with us food can be from 30,000 IRD up to 150,000 IRD

£10 GBP is 220,000 IRD

$10 AUD is 110’000 IRD

$10 USD is 165’000 IRD

Vaccinations, visas and entry requirements

As there are 195 countries in world its very heard to us to which visa and entry requirements are needed to enter Indonesia, the best advice we can give you is just do some research before you come to Bali. Different countries have access to all sorts of visa, but I believe the most common visa international travellers use is VOA (Visa on Arrival) This is not for EVERY COUNTRY!!!!!. Please do you research.

To have access to the right vacation, your best bet would be to get in Touch with your GP ( Doctor) in your home country. You can research yourself and see look for websites like this Bali Vaccinations Guide (2025): What Shots Do You Need? - Life Everyouth. We cannot grantee this information is %100 accurate.

Weather

In Bali there are seasons that worth bearing in mind. They have dry and wet seasons but that doesn’t mean it is still not enjoyable in wet season. Dry tends to start from April to around October but the does not mean that won’t be rain just less of it but this is also the busy time for Bali so there are many overseas tourist travelling at this time.

The wet season will start around November to March but again this doesn’t mean that its cold and not sunny but there may just be a little bit more Rain then normal. In wet season it does tend to be a lot quiet, and you miss the hustle and bustle of the international tourist.
